Please note that taking a holiday in term time means that children miss important school time and it is difficult for them to catch up on work. Absence due to availability of holidays at a cheaper rate, or poor weather experienced in school holiday periods are not valid reasons for approved absence.
Approval of absence will be at the discretion of the Headteacher and the Governing Body. Unless it is an emergency, please give at least 14 working days’ notice when applying for leave of absence.
It is an offence under Section 444A of the Education Act 1996 and Education and Inspection Act 2006 for a parent to fail to ensure their child attends school regularly. If your child (ren) is/are absent without authorisation from the Headteacher, the school will complete a penalty notice referral to the Local Authority which could result in a fine for not attending and willingly withdrawing the pupil without school's consent.
